Information is complex even before we get to the specificity of understanding and knowledge. It’s complex in how it gets to us; in how inextricably intertwingled it is with people; in the impacts of time.
We need good information tools (software, internet, libraries), built by nimble and thoughtful experts (researchers, developers, designers, librarians, information architects), who care about information, which is all wrapped up with…
People.
All of us – not a ‘special’ subset.

Information as a potion to cognition
Information is the inception point of understanding, not the end. With information, poking around to see what happens with it, and checking in with others to find out what they sensed, we start making sense of the world. That sense-making is the first whiff of understanding.
